Our Psychiatric Technician Program at West Hills College, Coalinga is accredited by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. The one (1) year program consists of various modules with content areas in nursing science, psychiatric nursing and care of the developmentally disabled.
Applicants are selected by lottery as governed by the Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT). Thirty to forty-five can be admitted to the program every August and December. Once the student completes the required training they must successfully pass the state mandated licensing examination in order to be employed as a licensed Psychiatric Technician.
